Driving Tuition Terms & Conditions
1. Lessons & Payment
Lessons are provided for the agreed duration. Payment arrangements will be agreed between the pupil and the instructor. Where lessons are prepaid, records will be kept of prepaid lessons and the remaining balance.
2. Cancellation & Refunds
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or rearrange a lesson. With less than the required notice, or if a pupil does not attend, the booked lesson may be charged. Exceptional circumstances may be considered.
Where a refund is due, it will be processed within 24 hours of being agreed or becoming due, subject to applicable consumer rights and payment-processing times.
3. Licence, Safety & Conduct
Pupils must hold the required provisional licence/entitlement and meet the statutory eyesight requirement. Pupils must follow reasonable safety instructions, wear suitable footwear and advise the instructor of anything affecting their ability or legal entitlement to drive.
Pupils must not attend under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any substance affecting safe driving. Respectful behaviour is expected; threatening, abusive, discriminatory or unsafe behaviour will not be accepted.
4. Progress & Test Readiness
Tuition will be provided according to the pupil’s ability, progress and individual training needs.
The final decision as to when a pupil is ready to take the practical driving test remains with the instructor.
A test recommendation will be made when, in the instructor’s professional judgement, the pupil can drive safely and independently. Progress and further training needs will be discussed with the pupil.
5. Practical Driving Test
The pupil is responsible for booking and managing their own DVSA practical driving test. The instructor may advise on suitable dates and availability but does not manage the pupil’s test booking.
Use of the tuition vehicle for the test must be agreed in advance. The vehicle may be withheld if it is not legally or safely suitable for the test or there is a genuine safety or compliance concern.
6. Test-Day Cancellation
The agreed cancellation policy also applies to any test-day vehicle booking. With less than the required notice or non-attendance, the agreed test-day vehicle charge may apply, subject to statutory consumer rights and exceptional circumstances.
7. Privacy & Professional Standards
Pupil information will be handled in accordance with applicable data-protection legislation and will not be unnecessarily disclosed. Photographs, recordings or pupil information will not be used publicly without appropriate consent.
Tuition will be provided professionally, respectfully and within appropriate professional boundaries, in accordance with applicable DVSA requirements.
8. Complaints
Any concerns should first be raised directly with the instructor. Complaints will be considered fairly and promptly. If unresolved, pupils may seek guidance from Citizens Advice or contact the DVSA regarding instructor conduct or service concerns.
9. Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or restricts any statutory consumer rights. These Terms & Conditions may be updated where necessary to reflect changes in legislation, DVSA requirements or business practice.
